Inside Out

Synopsis
Reviews
Dates and Booking

Highlights of the award-winning play Inside Out were performed to great acclaim at this year’s Bruce Woodcock Memorial Lecture on May 18.

MI Fellowship is pleased to announce that bookings are now open for the Victorian premiere season of Inside Out.

The play, starring Valerie Bader and Benn Welford, will be performed in October at four Victorian venues as part of Mental Health Week.

Based on audience response at the Woodcock Lecture, and the runaway success of the play last year in NSW and the ACT, MI Fellowship recommends booking early to ensure no one misses out on this outstanding theatrical production.

Venues, dates and booking details are noted below.

Synopsis

Inside Out is an honest, surprisingly funny and compassionate journey into one young man’s mind and a mother’s struggle to understand.

Sue and Simon have always been close. Nineteen-year-old Simon is talented, smart and loving—the perfect son. But creeping up on Sue is the realisation that something is wrong.

What do you do when life turns you upside down, grabs your heart and squeezes it tight? When you need to find more love, strength and resilience than you ever thought you had?

Inside Out, winner of the 2008 Seaborn Playwright’s Award, was written by Mary Rachel Brown after extensive work with carers and people with a mental illness. The results are a very true to life depiction of what can happen within families when mental illness affects a loved one.
