SUPPORT AT HOME

Home-based Outreach and Accommodation Support
For some people with a mental illness, their home is their refuge, whilst for others it can be their prison.

MI Fellowship, through our Home Based Outreach and Accommodation Support (HBOS) program, provides support to people in their own home. Home is wherever a person lives and can include public, private or family lodgings.

This program is all about giving clients greater control over their lives and reconnecting them to their family, friends and community. As the name suggests, MI Fellowship staff visit clients in their homes to develop and work on a tailored plan to improve quality of life, provide skills and connections.

Available to people with a mental illness who live across Victoria including: the eastern suburbs, Frankston, Mornington, the Peninsula and cities of Banyule, Darebin, Nillumbik, Whittlesea & Yarra. Regional areas include Shepparton, Seymour and Wallan.

The Visitor Service

Available to people with a psychiatric disability and their carers living in the areas of: Banyule, Darebin, Nillumbik, Whittlesea & Yarra

The Visitor Service provides opportunities for people with a psychiatric disability to develop friendly relationships with people from the wider community.

Visits usually involve people going out and sharing an activity such as going for coffee, shopping or a trip to the movies.

This gives both people with a mental illness and carers a break from their usual routine. Visitors are trained volunteers and are matched with people according to interests, age and times of availability.
