Volunteers

To serve, to help, to lend a hand, to get down and dirty - the Mental Illness Fellowship volunteers do all this and more to ensure that their organisation prospers and grows. They visit, they type, they teach, they inform, they answer our Helpline - our volunteers are notoriously generous with their time and expertise, and are always willing to lend a hand!

Volunteers are involved with the Mental Illness Fellowship in many roles including:

  • Board of management
  • Advocacy
  • Helpline
  • Opportunity shops
  • Family and Community Education
  • Respite visitor service
  • Office administration

Current volunteer roles

The following are roles we are currently seeking volunteers for:

  • Mental Illness Fellowship Victoria has an urgent need for six (6) enthusiastic volunteers to work in its Northcote Op Shop.  The friendly and helpful team would welcome new comers to promote an even better service.  No experience necessary.
  • Come and join the happy, hardworking team at Mental Illness Fellowship’s Op Shop in Kew.   There are shifts going for each day including Saturday morning.  No experience necessary.
  • Mental Illness Fellowship’s very friendly Club House and Employment Unit at 10 Bromham Pl in Richmond is keen to recruit more volunteers to work in its small reception area answering the phones and doing light administrative duties.  Shifts are available most days so please pick up your phone and offer now.  Training will be given.

All volunteers are provided with a job description, support, training and recognition.

Enquiries are welcome from everyone. Contact Cassy (Membership & Volunteer Coordinator) on 8486 4200 or email cnunan@mifellowship.org

There is currently a need for volunteers in office/reception work, (mainly answering the phone one day per week) and the visitor program (a commitment of two hours once a fortnight) in FRANKSTON. Support and training is provided. Those interested in volunteering in Frankston specifically should contact Glenda at ggallagher@pss.org.au or call 03 5970 5025.
